CHERRIES need one more victory to clinch promotion into the FA Women's Southern Premier Division, after battling to a 2-1 win at third-placed Moneyfields.
Goals from Kenni Thompson and Molly Barron-Clark earned the win for Steve Cuss’s side, who move top, one point clear of final-day opponents Exeter City.
Exeter have the chance to head into next weekend’s showdown in Devon in pole position, should they win their game in hand at Portishead Town this Sunday.
In 21 league matches this season, Cherries have dropped just four points, with home draws against Exeter and Keynsham Town, but only the top team will be promoted into the Southern Premier Division.
All the goals came in the first half at Oaklands Park in Chichester.
Cherries took an early lead when in-form Barron-Clark found Thompson to fire home on 10 minutes.
But Moneyfields equalised, via Hawaiian Kau’inohea Taylor, following in after Daniela Kosinska saved from Gemma Simmonds.
However, the game was not level for long, Barron-Clark netting for the sixth game in succession.
Goalkeeper Rose Kite denied Barron-Clark another goal before the break.
Kosinska then made a fine late stop from Simmonds at the other end, to seal the points.
Cherries: Kosinska, Bowers, Smith, Treweek, Jones, James, Barron-Clark, Hillier (Buckingham, 83), McGuinness (Bloomfield, 88), Cooper (Gilroy, 78), Thompson (Venditto, 90).
