A SEASON to forget for Poole Town was rounded off in disappointing fashion away at Walton & Hersham, 10-man Dolphins losing 3-0 on the final day.
Walton found themselves 2-0 up thanks to goals from Joseph Garcia and Anis Nuur before Poole were reduced to 10, goalkeeper Max Evans seeing red for denying a goalscoring opportunity.
Stand-in keeper, defender Josh Staunton, was only beaten by a penalty, Stan Flaherty making sure of the result 10 minutes from time.
The game was halted early on by an injury to the referee, leading to an appeal for a qualified replacement from the stands.
Eventually one was found, allowing play to restart.
Walton took the lead after 19 minutes through Garcia, before doubling their lead shortly after the half-hour mark, Nuur slotting past Evans.
In first-half stoppage time Evans would receive his marching orders, forcing centre-back Staunton to don the gloves.
Despite a spirited Poole performance, it would be Walton who would score in the second half.
Flaherty stepped up from 12 yards to putting the finish touches on what has been a season to forget for Poole, who finished 13th in the Southern Premier League South despite pre-season ambitions of the play-offs.
Dolphins: Evans; Rose, Staunton, Whisken, Wright; Slade, Samadi (Lowes, 45), Fogden (Fogden, 76), Murray, Santos (Hutchinson, 45); Holmes.
Unused subs: Tshaka, Zouma.
