TIM Sills says the “euphoria” of clinching the league title and promotion with Wimborne Town was “fully deserved”, adding: “There’s no better place to do it.”
Magpies, who had missed two previous chances to secure top spot, came from behind to win 3-1 at Melksham Town to win Southern League Division One South, eventually ending up four points clear of nearest challengers Frome Town.
Sills took over as Wimborne boss in October 2022, after opting to leave neighbours Hamworthy United.
Reflecting on his emotions after securing promotion at Melksham, Sills told Wimborne’s club media: “Absolute delight, euphoria, relief and trying not to throw up! It was an amazing day.
“It’s what you visualise and hope is going to happen and the boys made it happen.
“Even in the adversity of going one down, never gave up. That’s the characteristic they’ve had all season and we’ve seen the job and done it.”
He added: “It’s crazy. I said it to my management team, it’s what we do. We want to win titles and be successful.
“A club like this, with support like this, there’s no better place to do it.
“I think it’s fully deserved, from the whole season. I’m just glad we could finish the job in style.”
