WIMBORNE Town reserves secured the runners-up spot in the Dorset Premier League with a resounding 7-0 win over relegated Sherborne Town reserves.
Magpies led by just one goal at half-time at a wet New Cuthbury, courtesy of a Cameron McMonagle strike.
But the hosts ran riot after the break, with substitute Brad Waters bagging twice, McMonagle on target again, George Griffiths, Luke Sheehy and Louis Whetton all finding the net.
It rounds off a memorable season for Wimborne Town, whose first team won promotion as champions of Southern League Division One South.
Wimborne were dominant throughout, getting in front on 16 minutes as McMonagle cut in from the left and fired in from range.
Addwell Chipangura struck the crossbar, before goalkeeper Ben Rodwell had to be alert to tip over from Jamie Russo at the other end.
Wimborne doubled their lead early in the second half, half-time substitutes Waters and Whetton combining, the former finding the net.
Waters then got another, his effort going in via Sherborne defender Harry Boulton.
The chances kept coming, McMonagle getting his second goal before Sheehy got in on the act on 72 minutes.
Griffiths made it 6-0, before Whetton completed the scoring late on.
Magpies end their league campaign in second with 73 points from 30 matches, and a goal difference of 100. Sturminster Newton United took the title with 77 points.
The top two go head-to-head this Saturday in the Dorset Premier League Cup final at Portland United’s Camp & Satherley Stadium (2pm).
