AFC BOURNEMOUTH defender Illia Zabaryni’s Euros has come to a premature end despite his country Ukraine earning a creditable 0-0 draw with Belgium.
The result left all four teams in Group E level on four points, with Ukraine finishing bottom of the group due to goal difference.
Zabarnyi played every minute of his country’s campaign, with Ukraine’s 3-0 defeat to Romania in their group opener proving costly.
A 2-1 win against Slovakia in the following match gave Ukraine hope heading into the final round of fixtures, but Zabarnyi and co. were unable to find a winner against Belgium.
With Romania and Slovakia drawing 1-1, all four teams finished with a draw, victory, and defeat apiece.
Euro 2024 was not Zabarnyi’s first taste of major tournament football, having represented his country at the previous iteration of the competition.
The Ukrainian centre-half played five times at Euro 2020, helping his country reach the quarter-finals where they were knocked out by England at Wembley.
