TEENAGER James Van Gool put a poor run of batting form behind him by scoring 63 to help Bournemouth to a much-needed ECB Southern Premier League victory over basement club Havant at Chapel Gate.

The young South African had made only seven runs in his previous seven knocks, but banished his blues by playing the dominant role in a century-opening partnership which pointed the Lions to 239-7 and an eventual 122-run win.

He struck six fours and a six in his 63, scored out of an opening stand of 104 with Ben Rogers (36) before Bournemouth lost three wickets in 12 balls.

Aidan Meyer (32), George Guirdham (28) and Simon Woodruff (22) picked up the thread to steer Bournemouth towards a competitive total.

Havant, now 20 points adrift at the foot of the Premier Division, lost their first three wickets for 13 runs - two trapped leg before by Dan Conway - and were left to rely entirely on Chris Stone for their runs.

Stone battled it out for an unbeaten 60 (11 fours) as Meyer (4-15), Matt King (2-6) and Cole Rushforth (2-36) created openings to leave Havant 127 all out.
