GLASGOW Tigers boss Cami Brown described his side’s loss to Poole Pirates as a “tough night”, adding: “We lost our way in the middle part.”

Pirates prevailed 55-35 at Wimborne Road, to extend their lead at the top of the SGB Championship table and leave reigning champions Glasgow outside of the play-off places.

Tigers were without Steve Worrall due to illness, the Merseysider having won five trophies with Poole between 2021 and 2023.

The scores were level after five heats, before the hosts pulled away to win with ease. By that point, reserve Jason Garrad had withdrawn due to injury following a fall.

Brown turned to the tactical substitute after a maximum from Vinnie Foord and Tobias Thomsen in heat eight left Poole 28-20 ahead.

Chris Harris came in to team up with guest Ben Barker, but they too were on the wrong end of a 5-1, this time dished out by Ben Cook and Zach Cook.

“It was a tough night and it was always going to be,” said Brown.

“To go to Poole without Steve Worrall, who knows the track so well, was a massive blow.

“We said before the start that we need a good start and we got that.

“But we lost our way in the middle part. When our tactical substitute ride didn’t pay off, it was a long way back.”

He added: “It was also another blow to lose Jason and I think he’s now out for the season, so we’ll need to look for another replacement.

“Poole are a very good team again this season. Things haven’t gone our way, we just haven’t had the luck, which is what we perhaps had last year.

“We are still in with a chance of getting in the play-offs. If we can make that then anything can happen.

“Poole are there without doubt.

“Oxford are very close and it’s a bunfight between ourselves Scunthorpe and Workington for the final two places. We’ve just got to hope that we can get there.

“We don’t want to miss the play-offs. That’s not what Glasgow are about.”
