WIMBORNE Town’s final game of pre-season ended with a resounding 4-1 home loss to AFC Bournemouth’s development squad.
Will Fletcher scored a late consolation for the Magpies, who begin their Southern Premier South campaign at home against Hanwell Town on Saturday.
Cherries included three youngsters in their line-up who have recently had loan spells at Wimborne in Jonny Stuttle, Remy Rees-Dottin and Lewis Brown.
And they were 2-0 up inside the opening 15 minutes.
Stuttle, who spent the end of last season on loan at Wimborne, helping them to promotion, broke the deadlock for the visitors.
After clever play around the box initially, the ball bounced around the area, before the striker slotted it home.
A second goal followed four minutes later, a clipped ball over goalkeeper Ross Flitney headed in.
Fletcher met a Sam Jackson cross at the other end before the half was out, but it proved to be an easy save.
Cherries extended their lead to 3-0 just before half-time, Harold William turning the ball home.
Wimborne started the second half brightly with Jez Bedford, Fletcher and Matty Burrows all looking lively, while a shot from a Magpies trialist came back off the post.
Sam Roberts also had a header tipped over while Harry Baker headed wide as the home side looked for a route back into the contest.
However, Alan Connell’s side added a fourth through a fast counter-attack, left-back Noa Boutin’s cross turned in past Flitney.
Fletcher pulled one back late on after good combination between two Wimborne trialists.
Both sides ended the game with 10 men, Ben Winterburn and Bedford sent off following a fracas.
Cherries development squad return to action on Tuesday, away at Southampton, while Tim Sills’s side now look forward to league action commencing.
