CHARLIE Davis came off the bench to score the late winner as Poole Town defeated Taunton Town 1-0 at Tatnam.
Following a 0-0 draw at Bracknell Town on the opening day, Dolphins looked like they may be set for another goalless stalemate.
However, former Poole Grammar School pupil and AFC Bournemouth youngster Davis, who rejoined the club in the summer from Sholing, popped up to seal victory.
Boss Steve Tully made one change from the side which drew at Bracknell with Antonio Diaz starting in place of Jamar Smith.
Taunton, who also drew on the opening day, caused some early problems, before an Oakley Hanger cross just evaded former Peacocks striker Toby Holmes in the centre at the other end.
Jamie Whisken then had a header cleared off the line before the half was out.
Tyrique Clarke and Harry Thomas fired off target after the restart, before Tully turned to his bench, making a triple change on the hour mark.
One of those introduced, Davis, eventually broke the deadlock, latching onto a ball into the box to slot home.
Dolphins: Plain, Thomas, Whisken, Staunton, Hanger (Forbes, 61), Lowes, McCarthy, Diaz (Smith, 75), Slade (Davis, 61), Clarke (L Holmes, 61), T Holmes (Hoey, 82).
