HAMWORTHY Recreational Reserves snatched a late away win over Swanage Town & Herston FC.
The deadlock was broken just two minutes from time, as Hamworthy took home all three points in the Dorset Premier League.
The visitors showed early dominance, with 70 per cent possession in the first 20 minutes.
Opportunities were scarce for both sides, though, as Swanage had their first opening after 22 minutes, with a Dykes effort failing to trouble the defence.
Hamworthy had their first effort two minutes later, with a shot sailing wide, but the away side’s best chance of the half fell on 39 minutes, when a free header should have found the net from six yards but went over the bar.
Cody Moore was brought on for the Swans at half time, replacing injured Sam Willcocks, but both sides struggled to create clear chances at the start of the second half.
Swanage went close in the 70th minute, with Reavenell Nuette’s header saved at the near post.
The intensity of the game ramped up into the closing minutes of the game, but Swans were dealt a major blow in the 86th minute.
The newly introduced sub, Randall, who had replaced Magnier just minutes previous, was shown a red card after he was deemed the last man when he brought down Hamworthy’s Long.
From the resulting free kick, Swans ‘keeper Smith saved well but the visitors were adamant the ball had crossed the line, with the referee and linesman waving the shouts away.
But the visitors did not have to wait long to make the extra man count, with a well-worked move ending with the ball in the back of the net to secure the three points.
The match finished at 1-0 after a hard-fought encounter, with Swanage unable to capitalise on chances and were undone late on.
