BOURNEMOUTH Rugby Club has named a new director of rugby and has appointed a head of rugby operations.

The two new senior leadership roles are a part of significant investment aiming to drive future success and sustainability at the club.

Will Croker returns to his role of director of rugby at the club, having seen success in previously guiding Bournemouth to National 2 South, the fourth level in the rugby pyramid.

He held a club-record 70 per cent win rate, taking charge in more than 100 matches.

Following the announcement the club had found new owners in Richard Carr, Drew Mellor and Matthew Barker, it is hoped the club can find renewed success.

Croker, director of rugby, said: “Bournemouth Rugby has always been close to my heart, especially after the last successful period I had there.

“This challenge alongside the new owners' plans, was just too good an opportunity to turn down.

“Building something from the ground up with this talented group of players, wonderful coaching team and support staff is truly very exciting.

“Here is a chance to create something that the whole town could be proud of.”

David Dunn moves into the new role of head of rugby operations, encompassing working with other organisations such as Bath Rugby, Hampshire Rugby and Dorset and Wilts County Boards.

Also a previous director of rugby, Dunn saw the club reach level four for the first time in the club’s history.

“I am excited with my new role as head of rugby operations and having a whole club remit,” he said.

“With the new structure it affords us the opportunity to work on player pathways, have stronger ties with Bath Rugby and the RFU and ensure that all players have a great experience within Bournemouth Rugby.

“I will be working hand in glove with Will to deliver the best rugby experience and performances on and off the pitch.”

Matthew Barker, Bournemouth Rugby Club director, said: “In Will and David we see a bit of a dream ticket with the two most successful head coaches Bournemouth Rugby has ever had.

“Along with the rest of the coaching team we are hopeful we will see real success on the field from all of the senior section.”

The club begins its season on September 7, away at Farnham, with the first home game at Chapel Gate coming on September 14.
