SWANAGE and Wareham RFC hosted Wimborne, with the away side showing their quality in a 53-0 win.
Despite an even opening twenty minutes on Friday night, the visitors, who play in the league above Swanage, stretched their lead as both sides prepare for the new season.
Swans had a couple of early penalties, but it was Wimborne who scored first, crashing over from a scrum after eight minutes.
After 14 minutes, the visitors doubled their lead as a flowing move saw the right winger dot down in the corner to make it 10-0.
Swanage nearly fought their way back into it after an interception, but the host’s winger was tackled just five metres from the tryline.
In the second session of 20 minutes, both sides changed personnel, and Wimborne’s quality came into its own.
A sliced kick from Swanage landed in the Wimborne full back’s hands and led to the side’s third try, that also went unconverted.
Wimborne continued to dominate, scoring a further three unanswered tries to take the score to 34-0 in the visitors’ favour at halftime.
Swanage saw more of the ball in the second half, but as they looked to create something, an interception saw Wimborne score in the corner.
A couple of penalties close to the home side’s posts were taken as taps with the visitors forcing over with the second, before another tap-and-go penalty on 65 minutes saw Wimborne power over.
This left the final score at Swanage 0, Wimborne 53.
