WIMBORNE Town progressed to the next round of the FA Cup with a convincing win over Tiverton Town.

A first-half brace from Will Fletcher put the visitors in control before Matt Neale sealed the side’s progression to the next round shortly after the interval.

Tim Sills stayed with the side that lost in the derby at Poole.

Both sides struggled initially with the uneven bounce on the pitch, but both did create early chances.

Cam Munn’s trickery made space for a shot for Wimborne which was blocked, before Sam Jackson’s cross to Fletcher was headed past the post.

For Tiverton, Simons crossed from the byline for Ben Scorey to head clear, while Parker got in behind but Wimborne kept the ball out after a goalmouth scramble.

The visitors changed the game shortly before the half hour mark, as Ross Flitney found Jez Bedford, who sent the ball beyond Tiverton’s defence, with Fletcher to nick it past the keeper and then smash into an empty net.

Wimborne then took control of the game and it wasn’t long before they scored their second.

Burrows went on a run down the left and his low cross reached Fletcher who finished at the near post.

Leading 2-0 at halftime, Wimborne started the second half how they ended the first.

A trademark slock passing attack on the left involving Burrows, Bedford and Neale saw Neale played through, and he did the rest, finishing past the keeper at the near post.

Play then ebbed and flowed until the final whistle, with Wimborne seeing a fourth goal disallowed for offside.

The visitors kept the hosts at bay, with Flitney tipping a 30-yard free kick onto the bar, but they couldn’t find the breakthrough.

Wimborne sealed the 3-0 win and enter the hat for the next round of the cup.
