SWANAGE Cricket Club have celebrated a good season with individual and team success.
The first XI won five of their 12 matches in the Dorset Premier Division’s second tier, reaching the quarterfinals of the T20 trophy and finishing in fourth place.
Highlights for the side include three centuries from Mike Salmon and one from Ben Hodder, along with half centuries for Charlie Dyke, Hodder (2), Tom Rutherford, Salmon, Mark Stacey, Craig Wells (2) and Tom Wells.
Another highlight was the debut of Lily Wood who has played for Worcester Rapids T20 side and has been signed by Rockingham-Mandurah CC, in Perth, Australia, for their season to come.
Salmon was the top scorer in the T20 Cup, with a sensational 139 not out against Dorchester and a half century.
The second side won 10 of their 15 games in Division Four to finish fourth in a very competitive league.
Matt Beard, Simon Goldsack (3), John Lewis (2), Mike Nash, Pete Richards, Tom Rutherford & Mark Stacey all registered half centuries.
Beard, Max Nicholson and Pete Richards finished joint as leading wicket takers, ably supported by Harry Long, Sam Marks, Nash, Richards, Ethan Stacey & Sam Wells.
Phil Eades ended as the leading wicket keeper in the division.
The third XI won six of their 12 matches to finish sixth in Division Five.
Michael Barry struck his maiden century, along with half centuries for David Alcock and Simon Goldsack, supported by Jernimain and Michael Barry as well as Joshua and Mike Gould, Andrew Hancock and Chris Wood.
Michael Barry took six wickets against Wimborne, including a hattrick, with Hancock also taking two five wicket hauls.
The fourth side won a match in their debut season in what has been a fantastic breeding ground for the U15s and the women’s and girl’s section.
Tim Ives and Jon Maidman scored half centuries, with Alex Alcock, Ross Carroll and Alan Marks contributing with the ball.
There have been debuts for Jo and Zach Baker, Kayleigh Barguss, Freddie Briggs, Bradley Bulpitt, Eden Crook, Luke Marks, Arun Orgee, Harry Spurling, Faye Stacey, Seb Wright and wicket keeper Niamh McKeown.
The women and girls team performed brilliantly in the Super 8’s league with useful contributions throughout the team, including at a recent festival hosted by the club.
The youth teams from U7s to U15s have all performed well, with the club thanking Ryan Stearn, Craig, Sam and Tom Wells for their work on the ground, Nigel Dawe and Chris Wood for scoring, Tatty King for umpiring and Sharon Ives and Beryl Mitchell for their teas.
