POOLE Town ladies were unlucky in defeat as they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by a strong Forest Green Rovers side at the County Ground.
The game got underway with neither side looking likely to open the scoring.
A first real opening fell for the visitors, but they were denied by a fantastic stop from Poole’s Bebe Smith just before half time.
Forest Green Rovers started the second 45 as the better side and on the 60th minute they finally took the lead through Tori Taylor who managed to direct her header into the top corner.
Only a few moments later, they doubled their lead as substitute Irene Aguado rounded the goalkeeper and passed the ball into an empty net.
The Dolphins fought back and managed to get one back with ten minutes to go after a fantastic ball in from Emma King which found Lucy Coalter free in the middle as she confidently placed the ball into the corner.
Unfortunately, time ran out for the Ladies search for an equaliser as Forest Green secured all three points.
Nevertheless, a spirited performance from Robert Lovelass’ side and one which he can take a lot of positives from.
Poole Town Ladies are on the road next Sunday as they face Ilminster Town Ladies with a 2pm kick off.
