HAMWORTHY United lost narrowly away to Fawley AFC.
The Hammers welcomed back experienced midfielder Mike Hubbard as their squad was depleted through injury, but Dan Cann was back at the helm after his recent setbacks.
Hamworthy created the first chance of the game in the first minute as Neemo Nixon saw his shot saved by keeper Jamie Bruce onto the post.
But the hosts settled into the game and looked the stronger of the two sides, taking the lead on 13 minutes.
It was a bizarre and preventable goal for the Oilers to go one up.
Hammers keeper Jeremy James came to head clear, but it went to Fawley’s Tom Plank, who tried an ambitious lob from 40 yards out on the right touchline.
United defender Callum Streamer was oblivious to that the ball was going wide so headed clear, but the ball landed in the path of Will Berry, and with the keeper still not home, he slotted into an empty net.
Both sides had chances in the rest of the half but went into the break at 1-0, with the second half starting as the first ended.
Nixon saw a chance go over the bar, before goal-scorer Berry shaved the woodwork.
Hamworthy were better in the final 15 minutes but it was Fawley who looked more threatening at the end, but neither could find the net and the game ended 1-0.
