THREE Wessex volleyball players have been called up to England’s junior training squad.
Fifteen-year-old Lucas Ryvers and 16-year-old Sophia Chedgy are following in their parents’ footsteps in representing their country, with David Ryvers and Natasha Chedgy both playing for England and now coaching.
Felix Summers, 15, is a relative newcomer to the sport having started playing in 2023 and has made rapid progress in matching his ability with hard work and willingness to learn.
The trio impressed at the Inter Regionals in May, representing the South West, confirming their spot in the squad.
Felix has been picked to play as a fast middle for England in the NEVZA tournament in Ilkast, Denmark, in October, with Lucas as first reserve for the outside hitting position.
Sophia has also been selected for the tournament in what will be a busy few weeks for the three players, with two England training camps before travelling to Denmark.
