HAMWORTHY United Reserves secured their first league win of the season away at Bridport Reserves.
After some much-improved performances, Hamworthy were seeking a victory as they travelled across Dorset.
Bridport were just three places and four points above them in the league ahead of the game.
The game began at a frantic pace.
Hamworthy were given an early half chance thanks to some indecision from the kick off, but the ball was pulled wide.
The visitor’s keeper, Harvey Bartlett, did well to save a one-on-one, before a dangerous Bridport cross from the left narrowly missed two onrushing attackers.
The Hammers took the lead on nine minutes, after a defensive error out wide resulted in a cross into the box for Dan Viner, who tapped in.
The lead was doubled on 21 minutes.
A cross to the far post was headed only as far as Amir Ain-Zerga who volleyed the ball home.
Both teams saw chances before the interval, with the Bees coming closest after Josh Baker hit the woodwork from 25 yards, but Hamworthy entered the break two goals to the good.
Bridport came out of the blocks in the second half and got one back through Harry Boulton who headed home from a Callum Arnold cross.
Bartlett made good saves to keep Hamworthy in the lead from Brad Rowe and George Geraghty as the visitors defended well.
The Bees were reduced to 10 men with 15 minutes to play as Rowe received a second yellow card, and the Hammers took full advantage.
Jacob Crowther found the back of the net after 81 minutes to extend their lead.
Hamworthy were able to hold on for the final nine minutes of the game and deservedly claimed their first three points in the league.
