AN UP-and-coming boxer is on a winning streak and is set to fight in the National Development Championships quarter finals.
Twenty-one-year-old Sam Carr, from Bournemouth, has won his past three contests in the championship.
Carr, who represents CNC Christchurch Amateur Boxing Club, has become south western and, most recently, the south eastern champion after beating the holder at Wickford in Essex.
Next weekend, the boxer will face the Home Counties champion in the quarter finals in Oxford.
Carr is the son of former professional boxing champion Cornelius Carr.
His father said: “I’m very proud of Sam, he’s worked very hard to achieve this success, and I have great confidence in his talent and ability to win the entire Championship, he has a great future ahead of him in the sport of boxing.”
