HAMWORTHY United Reserves fell to a 4-2 home defeat to Dorchester Sports in the Dorset Premier League.
Third placed Dorchester proved to be a stern test and emerged victorious after two goals in each half.
Hamworthy made a positive start to the game, creating some good early chances, and the hosts took the lead after seven minutes.
Morgan Colarelli was sent down the right-hand side and picked out Jahrel Campbell in the middle for a simple tap in to break the deadlock.
But Dorchester equalised after 19 minutes, as an under hit back pass saw Alex Godfrey skip past the last defender and beat the keeper one-on-one.
Both teams showed their quality in an even encounter, but Dorchester took the lead six minutes before the break.
A well-delivered free kick from Godfrey saw Derek Wall finish to leave the score at 2-1 at the interval.
The next goal was the crucial one at the start of the second period, with both times aiming to play football and break the lines.
It was the visitors who scored this key goal in the 51st minute, after a long throw into the box was not cleared, before Sol Roche found the roof of the net from six yards.
The points were all but secured 11 minutes later, as Dorchester exploited a stretched Hammers side by putting together a nice passage of play for Godfrey to rifle home a fourth from 18 yards out.
But the young Hamworthy side continued to compete and scored a consolation with 13 minutes to go, as Arche Southern was gifted a goal after latching onto an untidy back pass and scoring into an empty net.
This gave Hamworthy a glimmer of hope but after a red card for each side late on, a well-contested game concluded with Dorchester Sports collecting the spoils.
