AN AMATEUR boxer has reached the semi-finals of the National Development Championships.
Sam Carr represents CNC Christchurch Amateur Boxing Club and is on a five-match winning streak in the 80kg category.
Last weekend, the 21-year-old became the Home Counties champion after beating Kingsley Riley from Bletchley ABC.
He is set for the semi-final this coming weekend in Kettering, with the final also in the Northamptonshire town.
Sam is the son of former professional boxing champion Cornelius Carr.
His dad said: “Sam dominated his last fight, and he earned a unanimous decision win from the judges.
“Sam has great boxing coaches at Christchurch CNC, and I’d like to thank them all for supporting my son.
“I believe that Sam can win this Championship, and I have great faith in his boxing talent and determination. I think he possesses all the attributes to achieve great success in his boxing journey.”
