THE first leg of the KO Cup final between Poole Pirates and Oxford Cheetahs at Wimborne Road has been postponed.

Pirates took the decision to defer the Cab Direct Championship Knockout Cup first leg this morning, ahead of its scheduled time of 7.30pm this evening.

With rain forecast for much of today and getting heavier into the evening, Poole took the decision early this morning to minimise any disruption for those set to be travelling to the meeting.

What was planned to be the second leg, away at Oxford tomorrow night, Thursday, October 17, will now be the first leg and will go ahead as originally planned.

Poole promoter Danny Ford explained: “The weather forecasts are far from favourable and the chances of the track being even rideable is remote, and we certainly want this meeting to be the epic that it promises.

“So, we have taken the decision to defer the meeting until next Wednesday (23rd October) and with the early announcement hopefully any travel plans our colleagues from Oxford, and those Poole supporters who come from outside the region, may have made can be cancelled.”

All tickets purchased in advance of the meeting will still be valid for the new date.

Anyone who requires a refund should email info@poole-speedway.com with their details.

Pirates are chasing a treble in 2024, and hope to add the KO Cup to the Championship and BSN Series titles already secured this year.
