TEN AFC Bournemouth players have been involved with their respective national teams over the break, with goals and clean sheets coming for many of the international Cherries.
Dango Ouattara was on the scoresheet for Burkina Faso as the west African side qualified for the 2025 African Cup of Nations with two rounds of qualification to spare.
Ouattara scored a first half brace as the Stallions beat Burundi 4-1 last Thursday, before coming off the bench in a 2-0 win over the same nation on Sunday.
Burkina Faso are now guaranteed a spot at AFCON, which gets underway in December 2025 and concludes in January 2026.
Also in AFCON qualifying action was Antoine Semenyo, with the Ghanaian playing all 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Sudan last Thursday.
Semenyo also started in the 2-0 defeat on Sunday to Sudan, before being substituted on 57 minutes for Leicester’s Abdul Fatawu.
Ghana sit third in group F of qualifying, on just two points, as Sudan, in second, need just one point from the remaining two games to qualify for the tournament finals.
In the European Nations League, Illia Zabarnyi helped Ukraine keep a clean sheet as they beat Georgia 1-0 on Friday, before playing the full game as his nation drew 1-1 with Czechia.
Justin Kluivert was an unused substitute in both of the Netherlands’ games, as they drew 1-1 with Hungary and lost 1-0 to Germany.
For the home nations, there was a goal in defeat for Ryan Christie, as Scotland lost 2-1 to Croatia, before he played 68 minutes of the 0-0 draw with Portugal in a resolute defensive display.
For Wales, David Brooks started in their 1-0 victory over Montenegro on Monday, being substituted after 59 minutes, after staying on the bench for the 2-2 draw with Iceland last Friday.
Mark Travers was an unused substitute for the Republic of Ireland as they beat Finland 2-1 and lost 2-0 to Greece.
Alex Scott represented the England U21s as the Young Lions secured qualification for the European Championships next summer in Slovakia.
While Scott was an unused substitute in the first game of the break, a 2-1 win against Ukraine at the Vitality Stadium, the 21-year-old started against Azerbaijan at Ashton Gate in Bristol.
His former home ground, Scott bagged an assist from a free kick, with Callum Doyle heading home to add the second goal in what would end up as a 7-0 thrashing of their visitors.
Also in U21s action was Dean Huijsen, playing the whole game at centre back as his Spanish side beat Malta 6-0 on Tuesday as Spain too have qualified for the finals.
Huijsen was not in the squad for Spain’s 4-3 victory over Kazakhstan last Thursday.
In South America, Luis Sinisterra got himself on the scoresheet for Colombia after came off the bench against Chile in a World Cup qualifier, netting in stoppage time at the end of the 90 minutes.
This came after Sinisterra did not make the matchday squad in a 1-0 defeat against Bolivia last Thursday.
