SWANAGE and Wareham Hockey Club’s ladies second team climbed to second place in Division 2 of the Forest League after a hard-fought win over Southampton University.
Liz Solomon continued her scoring form as top scorer so far this season by breaking the deadlock with just 10 minutes on the clock, finishing after a brilliant solo run.
Ten minutes before the half time interval, Solomon was again on the scoresheet as she converted a penalty won by Nicole Deller, who was brought down by the Southampton keeper.
She completed her hattrick from a short corner in the second half, with Anna Muir also getting her first goal of the season.
Southampton got one back ten minutes later before adding another goal to end the match.
Captain Yasmin Unsworth said: “I’m so delighted with our performance today, we gave it our all and came away with a great result.”
