POOLE Town were well beaten by a clinical Tiverton side in a 3-1 defeat on Saturday afternoon.
The Dolphins were without young centre half Harry Thomas who missed out due to suspension.
New signing Dario De Luca made his way onto the bench after signing from step five side Stansfield.
The game got underway with Tiverton on the front foot.
After relentless early pressure from the hosts, they took the lead on the seventh minute through Joe Parker who fired past Cam Plain despite the goalkeeper’s best efforts to prevent it.
Tiverton doubled their lead on the 20th minute as Tor Swann effortlessly placed it past the helpless Plain.
Poole grew into the game as they half went on but weren’t clinical enough in the final third and effectively lacked goal threat.
The biggest chance of the half arrived just before the break as Poole’s Tom Hewlett smashed a low ball across the face of the goal which was somehow kept out by Zak Baker.
A half-time substitution introduced Rafa Ramos as the Dolphins were in need of a goal to get them back into the game.
Despite glimpses of promise from Steve Tully’s side, they were unable to score that vital goal needed for the improbable comeback.
The hosts put the nail in the coffin on the 86th minute as Javan Wright made it 3-0 ensuring the three points for the Yellows.
The Dolphins did eventually find the back of the net in additional time through debutant De Luca but it was too little too late for Poole.
A disappointing performance from Steve Tully’s side who lacked any real threat infront of goal against a Tiverton side that were clinical.
Next up for Poole is Gosport Borough at home next Saturday.
