SWANAGE Town and Herston FC's unbeaten run continues as they ran out 5-3 victors over Portland United Reserves in an action-packed encounter on the road.

The Swans started strongly, with Cody Moore going close with a header before Portland’s Baker saw a shot saved by keeper Brad Smith.

The visitors opened the scoring on 12 minutes as a well-worked move saw Kelson Pollard find Moore with a cross, who headed down to Marcus Smith to open the scoring.

Swanage’s lead was doubled just a minute later with Moore involved again, bursting through the defence to find Albie Turner to score on debut.

The visitors had a three-goal lead within 20 minutes as Moore continued to impress, this time getting himself on the scoresheet with a stunning 25-yard strike into the top corner.

Portland hit back in the 21st minute through Ryan McKechnie, who scored from close range, before the three-goal buffer was restored for Swanage through Smith once again on 28 minutes.

Swanage hit five inside 35 minutes as Pollard was next to benefit from a Moore cross to find the back of the net, before the deficit was reduced once again by the hosts, Jack Crouch scoring just before the break.

The second half saw the home side dominate as Swanage struggled to control the game, with Portland getting a third in the 75th minute when Riley Greenwood scored direct from a corner.

But Swanage secured the three points as they held on to win 5-3.

The Swans manager, Craig Adams, was full of praise for his side.

“The lads that were available today did the football club proud,” Adams said.

“Tough game against a good side at our level. The lads weathered the storm in the second half and got the job done. Full credit to our front five who were electric in the first half.”
