AFC BOURNEMOUTH surged past 50 goals for the season in a 10-0 demolition of south coast neighbours Southampton.

Erin Bloomfield bagged a hattrick against her former club as the Cherries made it six wins from six so far this season in the National League Division One South West.

Bloomfield netted twice in a first half which saw Bournemouth race into a 6-0 lead at the break, before the visitors added another four goals in the second period to hit double figures.

Bournemouth have now soared past 600 days unbeaten in the league and sit second in the league behind Swindon Town – who they face at the Vitality Stadium in November.

The Cherries opened the scoring with just eight minutes on the clock at Winklebury in Basingstoke.

Bloomfield was picked out by Kenni Thompson and shot, her effort hitting Sirens defender Sabine Ghag and looping over goalkeeper Maddison Stanbury and into the net.

(Image: Stuart Martin) Molly Barron-Clark made it 2-0 after 19 minutes, curling a delightful left footed shot into the top corner after a clever turn on the edge of the box.

It was three just two minutes later, with Jenna Markham getting herself on the scoresheet, reacting quickest to prod home after Stanbury spilled a Katie James cross.

Bloomfield headed home superbly to make it 4-0 after 29 minutes, before a fifth was added just one minute later.

Stanbury did well to keep Kelci Bowers’ powerful effort out, but Bloomfield pounced on the loose ball and finished to make it five.

James headed home from Thompson’s pinpoint cross to make it six, as the first half drew to a close.

The lead was extended seven minutes into the second period, as Markham arrowed a shot into the bottom corner after being teed up by Ellie Strippel, with this goal taking the Cherries past 50 competitive goals this season.

Bournemouth weren’t done there and added another as Bloomfield completed her hattrick in the 70th minute.

The forward challenged for the ball after Chloe Gilroy’s header, and she shook off her marker and keeper Stanbury, finishing into an unguarded net.

The ninth was added by Strippel from the penalty spot after she was brought down, sending Stanbury the wrong way.

Bowers got herself a deserved goal to round out the game for the Cherries, heading home after Strippel’s strike was saved three minutes from time.

Boss Steve Cuss was delighted with the result as his side moved to 53 goals in all competitions.

Cuss told afcb.co.uk: “I always think it’s good that we get goals from all over the pitch. I think if you are relying on maybe just a striker or two to get you goals, it can be limiting.

“From our point of view, the amount of players we have that are scoring goals is great.

“I am really pleased to be able to get the 10 goals today and mix them around a bit as well."

The Cherries face Saltash United away from home this weekend.
