POOLE RFC entertained close neighbours & local rivals Lytchett Minster RFC 2’s on Saturday in Dorset & Wilts 3 South.

Derby day is always a big one & the fine weather garnered a large crowd on Turlin Moor Recreation Ground for the clash.

Poole started the stronger with an early score through Sean Streets, whose powerful running from inside centre off a lineout, set the dolphins on their way. Ben McAllister slotted the conversion to give Poole a 7-0 lead.

Poole extended their lead when prop & pack leader Jack Norris crashed over the line, there was tight call on whether he had full control of the ball when he dotted down, but without a video referee present the try was awarded.

The Dolphins had their third try before half time as captain Ollie Giles-Day scrambled over in the corner.

The second half started with Poole continuing their dominance, firstly Ben McAllister broke through & offloaded to Adam Marshall to allow the wing to finish with aplomb.

Ben then broke through the Lytchett defences again, this time finishing off the good work with a try for himself.

Ben’s score was converted by Antonio Hidalgo-Small, to extend Poole’s lead out to 31-0.

The Dolphins didn’t take their foot off the pedal & kept pushing for more tries. Leon Price was rewarded for a day of good work with Poole’s sixth try of the game, with Antonio again adding the conversion.

To round off the game, Peter Grogan finished off a flowing move for Poole’s seventh try of the game. The final score was 46-0, a fabulous shut out win for the dolphins.

Poole’s man of the match was Kevin Clark, he covered every blade of grass & put his body on the line time & time again.

Poole’s man of mistakes was Dean Clark, a session on the difference between the try line & the 5-metre line is required for last season’s vice-captain.
