SEVEN AFC Bournemouth players were called up to their national teams this international break, including a first international start for Justin Kluivert.

Strangely, through injuries and missed call-ups, only European players featured from the Cherries this international break, most of which playing Nations League group games.

Kicking off the Nations League matches, Kluivert wasn’t included in the squad for the first match against Hungary but got his first international start as the Oranje travelled to take on Bosnia & Herzegovina, where they drew 1-1.

Illia Zabarnyi has made his international starts somewhat routine, as over the break he played the full 90 minutes for Ukraine’s matches against Georgia and Albania.

In the first game, Ukraine drew 1-1 against the high-flying Georgians, with Zabarnyi being crucial to see his side gain a point.

Against Albania though, two early goals saw defensively sound Ukraine win 2-1, despite a second half penalty conceded by Zabarnyi’s defensive compatriots.

Christie started in their first game, a 1-0 win against Croatia where the Scots won the game late on.

After this, Christie came off the bench late against Poland when the game was level and helped with the Scots push to win 2-1, through a late Andy Robertson goal.

Enes Unal and David Broks played each other in Türkiye vs Wales Nations League B, being subbed on 65th and 72nd minute respectively in a 0-0 draw.

Both Unal and Brooks were then unused substitutes in the following matches for their countries.

He started for Spain U21s and played most of the minutes in their game against England U21s, where the teams drew 0-0, leaving Huijsen with a clean sheet and his fourth for Spain’s U21s team.

He then followed that by playing the first half against Denmark, keeping the ball out the net while he was on the pitch resulting in a 2-1 win for Spain U21s.

Finally, Mark Travers received a call up for Ireland after impressive performances for the Cherries, but he was unable to dislodge Kelleher, being an unused substitute in both games against Finland and England.

Usual faces Dango Ouattara and Luis Sinisterra were unable to feature for Burkina Faso and Columbia respectively, both holding injuries.

Alex Scott is still nursing a surgery for a meniscus injury and could not feature for England U21s.

Tyler Adams did not feature for USMNT as he continues his comeback from injury.

Finally, Antoine Semenyo did not feature in Ghana’s Afcon matches.
