MEMBER clubs of the Dorset Football League have voted to support proposals that would see Bournemouth clubs added to a Dorset Sunday League.

Clubs in the Bournemouth Sunday League previously unanimously supported the plans that would see them added to a county-organised league.

Representatives from the Dorset Football League reported back to their committee, which endorsed the recommendations.

These were put to their member clubs at an SGM last week.

After lengthy and positive discussions, the meeting voted to approve the resolution that for 2025/26, current clubs in the Bournemouth Sunday League should be offered the opportunity to come under the Dorset Football League structure.

This represents a major step towards ensuring structured Sunday football can continue in Bournemouth and the surrounding areas.

There are more details to discuss and decisions to be made before the proposals are finalised.

As previously reported, the clubs were informed that the Sunday league in its current form was not financially sustainable.

As a result, the league sought to ensure the future of Sunday football in the area, with the Dorset Football League prepared to organise it through the creation of a new East Dorset Sunday League.
